If you love the handmade, fresh, melt-in-your-mouth goodness of an Amon’s Sugar Shack glazed donut for breakfast, we have good news for you.

And if you’ve never had one? Pay attention.

Starting Saturday, May 23, the historic Somerset bakery will offer hot, fresh donuts from 5 p.m. to close Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays every weekend this summer.

The lake is back and tourism dollars are rolling in.

Money spent by visitors to Pulaski County last year had a total economic impact of $121,724,940, a $4.57 million increase over the year before, according to an announcement this week by Carolyn Mounce, executive director, Somerset-Pulaski Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Readers of Kentucky Living magazine have selected their bests in Kentucky for 2015, and Lake Cumberland and Somerset-Pulaski County were recognized in 13 categories — eight of those as the winner! The results were published in the April issue of the magazine, which is distributed to all rural electric cooperative members in the state.

The lineup for the 22nd annual Master Musicians Festival has been announced. With a theme of "Kentucky Loud and Proud," Kentucky native and multiple GRAMMY Award winner Dwight Yoakam will headline a rich mix of country, Bluegrass, soul, rock and folk music. The festival will be July 10 & 11 in Somerset, Kentucky, at Somerset Community College's Festival Field.

You can see the complete lineup on the Master Musicians Festival website.

Congratulations to Somerset's Tap on Main (and owner Bill Hamilton), which made the top 10 list of best Kentucky bars in Louisville by the website Thrillist. Thrillist started as an e-mail newsletter in 2003 in New York that highlighted the best bar and restaurant openings each day, and has expanded to a full website that covers everything about food, drink and travel across the globe.
